Harsh Punishment for Auburn Woman who Drowned Baby Possum

An Auburn woman thought she was doing her neighborhood a favor when she trapped a baby opossum and then drowned it. But now she could be facing time in jail. Concerned citizens and animal advocates nationwide demand a harsh punishment for this barbaric act. Priscilla Schmidt of Auburn, Washington may not have known what to do when she inadvertently trapped a baby opossum in a "humane," trap, but her chosen method of discarding what she saw as nothing more than a pest was absolutely horrific. Contained in the trap and placed in a garbage can filled with water, this tiny animal had no hope of escape and died a horrid death. Surely this retired school teacher knows right from wrong, after all she spent a career teaching children just that. Well intentions aside, this cruel act must not go unpunished.
