The proposal to make our Canadian National Parks free for visitors in 2017 is a death sentence for our wildlife. This year, a wolf pack was killed by Park Wardens and CP Rail because of overloaded camping sites in Banff National Park, lack of Parks staff, overcrowding and irresponsible campers. Bears, deer, wolves and all kinds of beautiful wild creatures are hit and killed on the highway and by trains because of high traffic volume and faulty rail cars. The fatalities on our roads include humans as well and occur frequently. The highways in this region are closed due to fatalities on a regular basis. The towns of Lake Louise and Banff had to close their doors to tourists this summer because the situation was so out of control! This will only get worse in 2017 if free parks are introduced without any regard for the consequences.
Canadian Parks staff was cut back severely by the Harper government and has not been reinstated. Mr. Trudeau, I urge you to rethink your "free" Parks plan. Without greatly increased Parks staff and strict limits on visitor numbers, this plan will cause deaths of all our species! Our Parks are for conservation, let's not destroy them!

We have achieved our goal of 3000 signatures! I will set up a meeting with our Member of Parliament and our animal and environmental groups in our area. Please continue to share in the meantime, the more supporters who can speak to our concerns the better. I appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time to speak up for the wildlife and the environment. You are angels. 😇

Here's the situation as described in an article from this summer. Parks need to be about conservation not tourism dollars!
