Demand Justice for stray dogs poisoned daily in Greece

PLEASE DEMAND JUSTICE that Mayor IOANNIS TSOUKNIDAS investigates and acts to have the person(s) responsible for poisoning Stray dogs in Thessaloniki Greece caught and prosecuted for Animal Cruelty. Upon my arrival to Agios Athanasios DIMOS XALKIDONOS THESSALONIKI 7 months ago I noticed a growing number of dogs being dumped/abandoned within this area, which includes 20 odd other towns. The majority of the dogs were abused, neglected and in shocking states. Initially it took me time to gain their trust and at times it was very challenging. I began going out and feeding them everyday, making sure they received some kind of decent nutrition. I provided veterinary assistance and had many of the mentioned dogs vaccinated, wormed and treated for anything they may have needed. Unfortunately as soon as I had them on the road to recovery someone from within this towns community would deliberately set poisonous bates. To date I have lost approximately 30-40 defenseless dogs I was personally caring for. They have been poisoned to death and their little bodies dumped in the industrial bins throughout the town. I have witnessed the end effects of these horrific poisonings, and the suffering endured by these innocent dogs is unimaginable! Please be aware that the photo is of Diesel my homeless boy after he was poisoned. The Greek government and its people need to be held accountable for these atrocities. By the time I arrived at the scene I was always too late to save them. All I could do was document the cruel events so as I can share the plight of dogs in Greece with the rest of the world. Stray dogs in Greece are considered Vermin by many locals seen laughing, drinking coffee and smoking whilst these animals writhe in pain as they take their last breath! Such crimes against stray animals are not isolated instances, but are accepted as the NORM throughout Greece By law it is illegal to neglect or abuse stray or pet animals, however these laws are seldomly enforced. PLEASE help me send a clear message that animal cruelty in GREECE will no longer be tolerated by signing this petition. These dogs in their short lives experienced love and kindness only to be cruelly poisoned, THEY DESERVE JUSTICE! Ensure the mayor IOANNIS TSOUKNIDAS acts to have these perpetrators brought to justice and to put an end to ANY POISONOUS BATES being set at anytime! These cold, callous perpetrator(s) must be prosecuted for animal cruelty to the fullest extent of the law!
