Tell the Manitoba Government to Reinstate the Licensing Requirement for Dog Breeding

  • af: Joel Boyce

The province of Manitoba has dropped its licensing requirement for dog breeders, meaning that there is now no oversight at all to prevent abusive puppy mills from proliferating. Having laws against animal abuse is a good thing, but they can't have the desired effect if they're not being enforced, which means inspections, follow-ups, all the aspects of a stringent process for the legal right to breed and sell puppies.

By forcing the office of the chief veterinarian to do their job, we can save countless puppies from abuse, abandonment, and possible death. We can also give our overloaded shelters a break.
