Keep Rockledge families at Rockledge! 70% to 50% relocation is unacceptable!

The Prince William County School Board is currently considering a drastic rezoning proposal of the Occoquan School District that will effectively end the school community concept. Rockledge Elementary School will be the hardest hit with a 70% to 50% change in student population. In other words, when Rockledge students leave for the summer, 7 out of 10 kids will not be returning. The ones that return will find their friends gone. Some of these children live so close to Rockledge that they walk to school and now they will become bus riders, adding to the already congested traffic of Old Bridge Rd. The new students will also have to be bus to Rockledge, adding even more traffic to Old Bridge Rd at the most congested times. Many homeowners that purposely bought houses near Rockledge are now finding themselves betrayed by our elected officials.

Let's send a message to our elected officials, our children are not numbers in a spreadsheet.

The Rockledge Community deserve better!

After 2 months of fighting for our children, the PWC School Board has finally voted on the new boundaries. Our efforts took us from 70% population loss to about 20%. It was definitely not a total victory, but as a community we can be proud of what we have accomplished. Everyone who spoke in front of the School Board, attended hearings, sent emails, or signed this petition should please with knowing that many families were saved thanks to your labor.

Go Rockledge!
