Ban loud fireworks in Trinidad and Tobago

Fireworks affect General Hospitals, multiple doctor offices, elderly and children homes, businesses, residential communities and Zoos etc. Zoos already spoke about the loud noise levels and its close proximity to the fireworks. This has affected in the past not only animals in zoos but personal pet animals and their owners/families. There are numerous stories. Within a short time of fireworks starting smaller birds begin intense fluttering and die within minutes and several other animals are visibly traumatized. Dogs go insane with the loud echoing noises. Citizens have to work to stabilize affected animals. In 2019 the Emperor Valley Zoo in Port of Spain announced on a social media Facebook page that one of its male kangaroos sadly passed away from the shock and trauma experienced due to fireworks. Fireworks also could catastrophically damage personal and public property. We citizens must take a stand! For years there have been public calls for a complete ban on fireworks in Trinidad and Tobago. However if this must continue, fireworks celebrations must be moved away from businesses and social hubs to the many more suitable venues. In 2023 soundless fireworks that only illuminate the sky exist and would be an improvement to the current planned celebrations. Our animals and the families they are a part of cannot continue in this way Trinidad and Tobago.
