Per a bombshell revelation on Thursday night, Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen is reportedly ready to tell special counselor Robert Mueller that the president knew in advance about the 2016 Trump Tower meeting between his campaign and a Russian lawyer who promised dirt on Hillary Clinton.
If Cohen's claim proves true, the consequences would be catastrophic for the White House. If Trump knew about the meeting, allowed it to go forth, and then lied about knowing about it to cover up his own role, he is effectively guilty of collusion and obstructing justice.
Furthermore, those present, including Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, also claimed that Trump did not know about the meeting, rendering them wholly complicit. Trump Jr. even testified under oath in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee that his father was unaware of the meeting; committing perjury is a felony punishable by prison.
Enough with the lies. We demand that Congress ask Trump to testify UNDER OATH about the infamous Trump Tower meeting with Russian operatives.
The American people deserve to know the truth about the autocrat currently occupying the White House. If he truly colluded with a hostile foreign power to help them influence the outcome of our election, he deserves to be sitting in jail, not the Oval Office.
Trump has spent the entirety of his presidency railing against the idea of colluding with Russia, going so far as to call it a "witch hunt" on a near-daily basis. If Cohen's claim is true, however, then he will have been blatantly lying since day one.
