Canadian animal cruelty laws have no balls. YOU can help change that!

This petition is aimed at you, a citizen outside of Canada. The animal cruelty legislation change has been going on for ten years. Politicians in this country are doing some fancy dancing to avoid changing the laws that would make a difference.

Now we are appealing to you, the international citizen, to tell Canada YOU  ARE WATCHING.

What do you think of Canada and her citizens that our laws would allow animals to be treated so badly, and the perpetrators not brought to justice? Did you read the story of Suzie? Hover your mouse over her picture - or read the puppy story below in the second paragraph, then tell me if you feel comfortable with those actions.

Countries like the United States, England, Norway, South Africa, Italy, and the list is growing every day, are signing online petitions directed to the Canadian Government that current laws are unacceptable. According to the IFAW organization, Executive Summary in http://www.ifaw.org/ifaw_canada_english/join_campaigns/national_and_regional_efforts/stop_animal_cruelty_in_canada_support_anti-cruelty_laws/index.php Almost every day in Canada newspapers cover stories of horrific acts of cruelty to animals. From house cats captured and killed in microwaves to dogs dragged behind cars until they die from their injuries- cases of cruelty abound. Recently, a three month old puppy was beaten to death in a hotel room in Victoria, and the killer received almost nothing as a consequence to his action. http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/17167/BC/CA/

Please, take the few minutes necessary to pressure the Canadian government, to change our country's animal cruelty legislation, based on the Bill in front of Parliament, currently called C-229. Tell them what you think. Tell them current animal cruelty laws are not okay. Tell them they need to be changed.... and changed NOW!

We the undersigned of the international community are directing our signatures to you Honourable Rob Nicholson, and MP Mark Holland.

We used to view Canadians as a people and culture who were humanitarian in nature, and helpful to their fellow man. We thought Canadians respect life in general and who hold those responsible and accountable for acting against these principles.

But with much dismay, more and more in the news, there are articles about terrible, horrible actions by Canadians against animals, dogs, cats and others, and these people are not being held accountable for their actions. Is this really what Canada is about?

We want Canada to join the ranks of countries in the world who take animal cruelty very seriously. We want Canadian MPs and Senators to support the general principles of C-229 and to introduce a government bill based on C-229. We want this to be done within the next two years or sooner.

Thank you for reading, and we hope you will act.
Sincerely,
