We, the students, believe Edgenuity is not helping the school as a whole. For those who do not have JCTC, Edgenuity has doubled the amount of classes that they need to maintain a good grade to AT LEAST ten classes! An impossible amount for the average high school student.
We have talked to Edgenuity themselves and discovered that Edgenuity is designed for "Blended Learning". It was introduced into the EJHS in 2013-2014 school year, as an "experiment". This experiment has changed our entire educational experience. It is factored it into our grades, even though we receive no formal instruction from Jessamine County teachers.
We have been informed of a multi-year contract with Edgenuity. We know that you can not get rid of it completely; but at the very least, it needs to be removed as a requirement for pass-fail.
Edgenuity has:
- brought down grades
- causing troubles for students
- slowing students down
- decreased student morale
- added as many as 5 classes to course load
WE ARE NOT YOUR EDGENUITY GUINEA PIGS and we don't want West to go through the same things we have.
We are hereby respectfully requesting the immediate removal of Edgenuity EJHS.
