Ban the Hunting of Yellowstone's Wolves

It’s an outrage. In just the last few weeks, at least ten of Yellowstone’s wolves have been shot and killed by hunters just outside the park’s boundaries. At least seven of these wolves wore radio-collars and were critical to important long tern conservation research and ecological studies.

Yellowstone’s wolves are protected inside of the park, but can be shot legally as soon as they cross outside of it. Hunters are luring wolves out of the park with dead animal carcasses and gut piles just beyond the border. In their zeal to kill wolves, the states of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming permit these activities with no regard to the impacts that it will have on our National Parks and their wildlife.

The killing has gone too far. We, the undersigned, demand the states and federal government designate an emergency hunter-free buffer zone around Yellowstone National Park sufficient in size to protect the park’s wolves, the removal of all hunting camps from this area, and the prosecution of anyone violating the rules. We demand that our government protect the wolves that our nation has come to love and cherish.
