Save the conservation site at Pinkham Way from redevelopment

North London Waste Authority is proposing to build one of the largest waste management facilities in Europe. The site would also be a depot for Barnet Council's refuse trucks. The site earmarked for this development is in Pinkham Way, north London, which is in the heart of a residential area. It would mean the destruction of a plot designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) for its botanical diversity and uncommon plants, and is flanked by other SINCs including, but not limited to, Alexandra Palace and Coldfall Wood. The community is concerned that such a site would contribute to increased traffic in an already heavily congested area, high levels of odour and noise pollution, increased CO2 emissions in a Low Emission Zone which would be detrimental to their health, especially to that of their children with asthma and related breathing problems, a negative effect on the local economy and devaluation of property. The community is asking that there be a proper, open consultation of all residents, schools, businesses, community groups and environmental groups.
