The White House Organic Farm Project (TheWhoFarm)

We, the people, respectfully request that an organic farm be planted on the White House grounds at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The White House Organic Farm will be a model for healthy, economical and sustainable living everywhere   It will serve as an educational tool and economic aid, and as a means to provide food security.  It will reconnect the Office of the Presidency to the agricultural roots of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Who will work the farm?

Public school children and disabled Americans will work the White House Organic Farm, setting an example for the world of hands-on learning and an independent, do-it-yourself work ethic.

Who will eat the food?

The White House Organic Farm%u2019s harvest will provide fresh local produce for the President, the President's family, and the President%u2019s distinguished guests.  It will also support healthy school lunch programs and supply food pantries of Washington, DC.

How will the food be transported?

Food from the White House Organic Farm will be delivered to local public schools and food pantries by volunteers on foot and by bicycle.

What about the soil?

The White House Organic Farm will use healthy topsoil, nourished by compost supplements from yard and food waste from the White House grounds and from the US Capitol's cafeteria.

What about the seeds?

The farm will plant heirloom seeds passed down from Thomas Jefferson's farm at Monticello as well as seeds donated by farmers and gardeners everywhere, to celebrate both the rich agricultural traditions of the Office of the President and the passions of everyday Americans for our great land.
