The City of Kyle is considering a proposal by Academia De Preparacion Profesional de Austin (APPA) to remove the three baseball files at the Waterleaf Park and replace them with eight soccer fields, lights and bleachers. APPA is planning to start their practice on January 2016, with night practice twice a week plus games on Saturday and Sunday. The fields and lights may be in use after 9 pm. We, are against this proposal for one or more of the following reasons:
- It will remove access to baseball facilities I use
- It will cause excessive traffic through the Waterleaf subdivision
- It will cause parking congestion through Waterleaf, especially Abundance lane, a residential street.
- It will cause undesired light and noise pollution, as soccer events may last past 9 pm, 4-5 times per week plus games on the weekend.
- It will restrain the hiking and jogging trails I use
- It will diminish the natural aspects of the park with bleachers and field lighting
- With the additional use by the soccer leagues, availability of the Waterleaf Park is put into question.
-With Five Mile Dam soccer complex and Hays Youth Soccer Association being separate by less than 10 miles, there’s little justification for the development of a third, larger, soccer complex.
