Senator Susan Collins is among the influential policy makers in our district. However, there has been a noticeable lack of public engagement and interaction, especially in the form of town hall meetings, which are crucial for ensuring a democratic dialogue and citizen participation. At present Sen Collins has not held a town hall meeting in over 20 yrs leaving constituents feeling unheard and unsupported. According to the Town Hall Project, an independent and nonpartisan organization, there should be numerous town halls held by politicians each year to improve transparency and accountability. Therefore, this petition seeks to convince Sen. Collins of the urgency of holding a town hall meeting where community opinions, stories, and concerns can be heard. Your signature is a democratic act and a call for direct, public accountability from our representatives.
