This countries ideals were founded on "freedom". Freedom of speech. Freedom to own your own land. freedom! HOA's are interfering with peoples freedom of speech (read the print) and your ability to do what you want and how you want to do it on the land you own. Writing covenants that board members to come onto private property and inspect improvements even after a contractor has gotten proper building permits and then decide if they will allow you to do with your land what you want to do. You no longer own your property, the HOA board does. HOA's are intrusive, abusive, and decrease the quality of life and value of our homes. Realtors will tell you that given a choice of two homes, most people today will choose the home without a homeowners association. Who cares if one neighbors house is modern and another is craftsman. The United States was founded on individuality and freedom. If you feel these homeowners associations have run amuck and are unconstitutionally now not allowing freedom of speech (no speaking at meetings unless you are a board member and no speaking about situations that have to do with your own home) please sign this petition. If I have a contractor who has gotten proper permits, i say to the board STAY OFF MY LAND! If it is Joe, my friend, who cuts my lawn when I don't feel up to it and wants to see the new addition come in and have a cup of coffee.
