Take Back Our Health and Make Food Real Again with National Fasting Week

Why National Fasting Week Matters:
America's health crisis is a serious threat to our future, and it is caused by our addictive fake-food system. National fasting week is about rejecting fake food, skipping junk food, learning different fasting methods and cooking at home to kickstart the real food revolution.

Diet is now the number one cause of death in America. Our diabetes rate is 14 times higher than it was in the 1950's. Obesity rates are 4 times higher than the 1950's- an increase from 10% to 43%, while childhood obesity is 5 times higher. These diseases are driven by a food system that is killing our health, draining our healthcare system, reducing American productivity and polluting our environment with plastics that are accumulating in our bodies.

America's Long Fasting Legacy:
Our first national fasting day was declared by President John Adams back in 1798. Throughout history, four presidents declared national fasting days, including President Abraham Lincoln, who held three separate national fasting days during his presidency. Now more than ever America needs to establish an annual national fasting day that fights back against our industrial addictive food system while increasing insulin sensitivity, cutting bodyfat, slashing heart disease risk and sharpening brain function. Microplastics from plastic-packed processed foods invade our bodies, sparking inflammation; fasting's autophagy may clear them, and give our bodies a break.

What We're Asking:
Establish January 12 as National Fasting Day to break processed food habits and detox from junk food addiction, backed by educational events and a presidential proclamation. Everyone can participate, whether they fast a full day, or just abstain from junk food.
Establish an annual National Fasting Week (January 12–18): Seven days of voluntary fasting— whether it's intermittent fasting (like 16:8), single meals, full days, or simply a fast from junk food— to heal our bodies, shrink plastic pollution and food budgets.
