We, the members of the Oakwood Manor Homeowners Association would like to see this question addressed by placing it on the agenda for a vote for or against term limits at the Annual General Meeting in January of 2023.
Is it better to have a board dominated by members who have the opportunity to serve in perpetuity or one that provides more opportunities for those with fresh ideas and diverse experiences to serve? Board members who are willing to serve and work together to govern our
budget and address our needs are invaluable. Just how long board members serve is a matter for discussion. We believe it is time to have that discussion.
When you always have the same people or a particular person on the board, there can be the impression that things are being run for the benefit of a small group of people as opposed to the good of all. By having, encouraging, or requiring board turnover, we might have more
openness and more people involved in the association's governance.
It has been clear over the past few years that there are a number of qualified and willing members who would love to serve on the board by amending our bylaws to open up more opportunities for them to serve by setting term limits for board members? ie, serve a maximum of two consecutive terms and sit out a minimum of one year.
If you agree that this should be added to the 2023 Agenda for an open discussion, (Mike and the Board refuse to add it themselves) then, please sign the petition.
We need a minimum of 130 votes (20%) to have this item added to the agenda. Please add your voice.
