Petition to address WoW PvP ranking system and healer shortage
This petition is not meant to "attack" or "criticize" the development of World of Warcraft PvP game modes. The fluidity and mechanical complexity of WoW PvP is unmatched and always will make WoW a unique and irreplaceable pvp game. The development of solo shuffle and blitz has been an amazing addition to the PvP scene (and Plunder).
This petition is meant to simply draw attention to two critical issues in WoW PvP that we would simply like communication on and more importantly some kind of action.
While there are many concerns that player have brought up throughout The War Within, there are two main issues that have been consistently raised and are consistently upvoted in r/worldofpvp and the Blizzard forums. We would be incredibly grateful to receive any kind of communication on the following:
o CR fluctuations across game modes and seasons.
o Healer incentives to reduce queue times
While there are many other topics I could raise here, these two issues are the most relevant and also are issues that can be realistically addressed without a massive overhaul of game design etc.
Regarding queue times [shuffle]: The number one issue players have consistently listed as the reason they have stopped playing WoW PvP is queue times. This is despite the fact that healers get instant queues. While there are many theories/solutions that have been proposed: one thing remains true and has been shown over and over through different player analyses of solo queue ratings: it is significantly harder to climb solo shuffle as a healer compared to DPS. Healers are often 1-200CR behind comparable DPS players and have to play many more games to achieve similar CRs. Despite these challenges, healers are not rewarded nearly enough for the challenging role they play. We really hope this can be addressed in some way shape or form.
Regarding CR/MMR [shuffle and arena]: Despite approaching the end-of-season in TWW S1, many players are still hundreds of CR below where they were in Dragonflight. Artificial inflation seems slow and retroactive and also incentivizes players to queue the last two weeks of a season. Rating has essentially become meaningless in the sense that it depends what week/season/game mode/expac you are in rather than your skill. Different solutions have been proposed such as reverting to percentiles, adopting League-like ranking system that accounts for participation fluctuations, or simply ramping up inflation much more aggressively during a low-participation season. We understand this issue is complex and filled with caveats but we would appreciate some kind of intervention to combat this issue.
