Say NO to a proposed dog park on Lake Grapevine between Boathouse Drive and Dove Loop Road. The City of Grapevine has been negligent and failed to evaluate the harm a proposed dog park will have on nearby residents and Lake Grapevine. Where the city is negligent:
No analysis of fecal matter added to Lake Grapevine was performed. Almost 16000 dogs live in Grapevine. The EPA has stated the poop from 100 dogs in just a few days will close lakes and waterways to fishing and swimming for up to 20 miles.
No analysis of traffic was performed. 8000 households have dogs in Grapevine. The dog park will increase traffic to the area by 1000%.
The City failed to contact local area residents. The Parks and Recreation Commissioner stated residents were purposefully not contacted because the area did not have to be rezoned.
The City has not established a single rule or ordinance for dog parks. However they plan to build two. How can you design and build a dog park with no rules, regulations, or bylaws?
The City has not evaluated the use on high mast lighting, did not evaluate the impact to property values, did not considered noise ordinances (barking dogs and loud people), did not evaluate the impact on crime rates, and the list goes on!
The City of Grapevine already has a dog park in Oak Grove Park – about 1000 yards away. Stop the negligent behaviors of the City of Grapevine! Tell them to stop wasting your taxpayer dollars!

On July 18, because of our efforts, the City was notified by the USACE that a dog park would not be approved. The City has canceled the project at Lake Grapevine. The City plans to proceed with a dog park at Bear Creek Park. Big Bear Creek runs through the park and could be a concern to the Trinity River Authority. The City Council is asking questions of the staff to have this item resolved.

Please pass the petition along to others! EPA and TCEQ all say this is a dumb idea; however they only get involved to cleanup messes made by the city. Not stop them. Crazy! Also I did a detailed review of the selection criteria - a joke. The Boathouse location should be ranked near the bottom!
