Make Mental Health Education Mandatory in All U.S. Schools

Every student in America deserves more than academic preparedness — they deserve an emotional toolkit for managing life.

Mental health problems among young people have reached epidemic levels, with rising rates of anxiety, depression and even suicide. However, most U.S. schools still do not incorporate any sort of formal mental health education.

We need to act now. We are petitioning U.S. Department of Education and local school districts to make mental health education a required course in all public middle and high schools.

This curriculum would include:\n- emotional literacy and self-awareness\n- coping strategies for stress and anxiety\n- guidance on how and when to seek help\n- education to reduce already existing stigma and to promote empathy.

Teaching about mental health saves lives. It empowers students, decreases stigma, and fosters a stronger generation. Add your name to support policy change both nationally and at the state level — because mental health should be in every classroom.
