Many innocent animals, such as rats, mice, prairie dogs, moles, crows, pigeons, rooks, foxes, rabbits, coyotes and raccoons, are killed unnecessarily by tje violent and cruel use of poisons, shooting, electrocution, lethal traps and even glue traps, which are notoriously cruel. There are more humane, non-lethal alternatives, such as humane, live traps, repellents and the potential use of sterilisation. Rat and mouse problems can also be prevented by keeping places cleaner and keeping food stored away properly. When presented with a unkempt place with food out, what's a poor, starving rat family to do except set up their home there?
I know rats and mice carry diseases and can be dangerous to humans, but this isn't their fault! They don't know that their ways of life make them dangerous to humans. They can't help being vectors for disease. They still deserve to be treated with kindness and respect for their lives. I know that people with rat and mouse and other "pest" problems can have really hard times due to the animals, but just because you don't like/hate a particular type of animal, or they make your life/lives difficult, does not give you the right to kill, hurt or harm them unnecessarily.
Besides, it is bad karma to kill sentient beings. If you don't want to suffer, be killed or have bad luck, don't cause those things unto others, including animals. In some cases, there may be no choice but to use lethal methods in order to protect people and other animals, but even if the killing can be stopped where alternatives exist and are viable, at least some animals can be saved.
Rentokil, please stop the unnecessary use of lethal methods on animals! We will boycott your company until you do so!
