Australia has just been through one of the most difficult and tumultuous political periods. With so many people disillusioned by the current and recent political leaders for both the Australian Labor Party and the Coalition, many consider the state of Australian politics to be nothing short of a bad joke.
The ALP's leadership rivalries of recent years has left many Labor supporters feeling dissapointed, confused and lost. Without a strong voice to take over the party, Labor is destined to continue this pattern of indecision and uncertainty.
With Tony Abbott now in the top job, now is the ALP's opportunity to learn from past mistakes and look to a brand new, fresh face for the leadership position.
Bill Shorten, Anthony Albanese and Tanya Plibersek have all been touted as possible candidates. However, these are some of the more known and talked about candidates, which leads many to think 'nothing has changed' within the party.
The ALP must change its direction and look to someone who is charismatic, passionate and stands for something that truly connects with Australians. Someone who is true to their word, willing to stand up for what they believe, and not back down in the face of adversity.
Federal Member for Wills and Labor member since 1974, Kelvin Thomson has a long history of being a dedicated and passionate lvoice within the party. With a background in conservation and law, Kelvin has a record of strong academic achievement, having recieved first class honours and awarded the Supreme Court Prize as the top ranked student at the University of Melbourne in 1987.
He has been a public servant and worked as a Shadow Minister for the Parlimentary Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Environment Minister, Attorney-General and several other high profile positions within the ALP.
Kelvin is a passionate, strong and ethical voice against an otherwise gloomy political backdrop. His stance on the environment, fairness and his modern outlook connects strongly with the views of younger Australians. The recent election has shown Kelvin to have the strongest two-party preferred vote of any Labor candidate of Australia.

We the undersigned urge you to use the recent election as an opportunity to deeply reflect on your leadership mistakes of the past.
As the recent election has shown, Australian's are disillusioned: we want to support a party that instills passion in us, who inspires us, who is a new voice and can be bold in the face of the opposition. That is why we are asking for the Labor party's most popular two-party preferred member: Kelvin Thomson to become the ALP leader.
