These are tumultuous times. The United States is at a crossroads. Dramatic and alarming orders issue from the White House every day. Maine people call for the opportunity to meet with Senator Susan Collins to discuss how she plans to represent Maine people and to answer constituents' questions. How will Collins protect our environment and ensure civil liberties for ALL regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, immigration status or economic privilege? What are Collins' views on SCOTUS Nominee Neil Gorsuch? How does Collins plan to protect healthcare?
This petition is a call for Senator Susan Collins to schedule Town Hall Meetings in Portland, Augusta, Bangor and Caribou within thirty days of receipt of this petition.
The Honorable Senator Susan Collins
413 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-0001
Dear Senator Collins:
Maine people are worried. We see changes happening in Washington D.C. that threaten our environment, our children’s education, our healthcare, marriage equality, civil liberties, and religious freedom to name but a few. The concern is so great that many Maine citizens have reached out to their Congressional Representatives for the first time in their lives.
Unfortunately, these attempts, particularly attempts made to contact you, have often been fruitless and frustrating. Constituents report busy signals at all times of day or flooded phone lines that go immediately to voice mail, only to find that your voice mailbox is full. When emailing, if their emails are answered, constituents have received form letters that do nothing to address their concerns or educate about your views on the positions or nominees.
As your constituents, we are calling for you to schedule Town Hall Meetings: one in Portland, one in Augusta, one in Bangor and one in Caribou within thirty days of receipt of this petition. Maine people deserve to know your positions on these critical issues that will have far reaching effects in all of our lives.
Come home to Maine and talk with us about how we can all work together to protect our state and this great country which we love. We the undersigned citizens request that you do this immediately.
Thank you.
Maine People
