Save an Iconic Warner Park Baseball Field from Demolition

Also, the Parks meeting date has been rescheduled to October 5th, so we have more time to work on saving this field!

Due to the impending construction of a special needs baseball field, Metro Nashville Parks demands a baseball field be demolished and turned into green space. Their demand is due to an out of touch 2005 Warner Parks Master Plan that limits the number of baseball fields at Edwin Warner Park.

The baseball field (corner of Old Hickory Blvd and Vaughn Road) to be demolished is the "Heriges Field," named in honor of Bobby Heriges. Mr. Heriges died while coaching in 1967. This field has served the community for over 60 years. It is needed more than ever in Nashville due to the population growth.  

Metro Nashville Parks completed an audit in 2017, "Plan to Play." The audit details that Davidson County needs 56 additional recreational fields by 2026. Metro Parks is contradicting their audit by demolishing a baseball field. We feel that the best plan of action with the demand for recreational fields and with the "Play for Plan" recommendations is that the Heriges field be rejuvenated with private funding and not be demolished.    

Please sign this Petition asking the Metro Nashville Parks Board to amend the existing Warner Parks Master Plan to allow six baseball fields. The five regular fields and the special needs field (The Miracle Field) may harmoniously exist in Edwin Warner Park. The Metro Parks Board will determine the fate of the Heriges Field during their Board Meeting on September 7th.
