According to the online petition made by Care2 Team, Chinese governing bodies plan to introduce new legislation that will provide special protections to canines by classifying them as companion animals. We who have signed this plea demand cats to be classifyed as companion animals too. Cats are being subjected to the same sadism as dogs because of archaic beliefs. There is no justification for such cruelty. This cruelty must STOP NOW.
There are plenty of stories about the cats who have saved human lives. For example the web magazine Listverse has an article with a headline 10 heroic cats who Could Teach Lassie A Thing or Two. One of the stories tells about a Russian alley cat named Masha who found a box in front of an apartment building. Upon seeing a baby boy inside, the tabby climbed into the box with the infant and began meowing an alarm. A woman taking out her garbage heard Masha's complaint and went to help. Due to his furry, purry heating pad, the abandoned infant—clothed in a jumpsuit—was unharmed by his exposure to the subzero temperatures. No doubt the modest cat would have said that she wasn't a heroine, just doing what came naturally!
The Cat Union of Finland have also noticed how naturally cats help humans, and therefore the union rewards some cats annually as heroine or hero. One of the rewarded cats is Hertta, who has learned to foresee the migraines of her owner and that's why hosbital has been avoided many times. Another hearoine cat is small European cat maiden Selma who helped her master to recover from the major surgery just by being there for him as a company and support like a very good therapist.
As you make new law for dogs, you can easily add cats to the companion animals too. Remember these stories and how much the loving cats could help humans, and therefore they shoul be treated as companion animals.
