Social networking company Meta (which owns Facebook, Instagram, and Threads) has decided to END its fact-checking protocols and allow misinformation to freely flow on their platforms. This is a disastrous decision, and they need to reverse it immediately.
This move is just to please Trump and his MAGA allies, who thrive on their lies and conspiracy theories being spread as far and wide as possible. Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg is bending the knee to curry favor with Trump before he takes office, at our expense.
Now instead of news organizations or other third party fact checkers, the only safeguard against misinformation on Facebook and Instagram will be a "community notes" feature which relies on users to comment on false or misleading posts.
With Trump about to take office, we need reliable fact-checking more than ever. We can't allow his lies and conspiracy theories to spread unchecked. Tell Meta to reverse this awful decision and reinstate fact-checking procedures >>
