This past fall, an unthinkable tragedy took place in an otherwise peaceful suburb of Austin, Texas. Two members of the local high school's FFA, which stands for the Future Farmers of America, were excelling in showing goats. But one of the girls was allegedly overcome with jealousy -- and took it out on her rival's innocent goat, Willy.
The girl
forcibly poisoned Willy the goat for days, shoving a syringe of pesticides into his mouth again and again. Video evidence shows the poor goat
convulsing and writhing in pain. Hours after being poisoned for the final time, hours of pure agony,
Willy died, leaving behind his heartbroken owner who was just 15 at the time.
Sign the petition and demand that the National FFA Organization ban the girl who poisoned Willy!Apparently, the girl who poisoned Willy even
admitted to it, claiming that she did it because she thought Willy and his owner were cheating -- a ridiculous accusation considering that there's no way to 'cheat' at an animal-showing competition.
Along with the confession was the horrific video footage mentioned above. It's not clear why the footage of the poisoning was taken, but
the videos of Willy convulsing and acting strange were sent to his owner's family to alert them that something was wrong.
Little did they know the person filming had intentionally put Willy through torture. While the girl's confession and the evidence make a path for legal punishment clear, there is still the question of the girls' access to animals.
As a prominent member of the FFA, she still poses a huge risk to other animals, especially those she deems a threat to her own goat's success. We cannot let her think that she can get away with killing her competitors' innocent, defenseless animals!
That's why we're asking that the National FFA Organization ban this girl from ever participating in their competitions ever again.
The FFA boasts a wonderful code of ethics, centered around fairness, positivity, and respect -- values that this girl has proven she does not hold. If this is how she wants to go about winning, she should never be allowed to compete in the first place.
We must demand justice for Willy, his owner, and any other animals or people who this girl could possibly victimize. Join us in asking that the National FFA Organization ban Willy's killer!
