We need to strengthen Colorado's Anti-Bullying "Laws"

The State of Colorado does not have official anti-bullying laws. It's only a policy. And it isn't enforced that well. Each year, over 1 million kids are bullied, and we really can not be content to watch it. I have been bullied ever since I was a lower school student (I am in the middle school right now) and it is horrible. This is because when I am bullied right now in middle school, the bullies really don't get much of a punishment- just one lunch period of detention. That is the strongest punishment my school has.

If the State of Colorado sharpens up its anti-bullying laws, many schools, including mine, that don't have a very strict punishment system (your school, or your child(ren)'s school might not have the strictest punishment system), will, under law, be forced to strengthen- and enforce- their punishment system more. This will be a turn for the better because if the bullies are punished more severely, the following can happen:
1) The child who got bullied and his/her family will feel that the punishing of the bully/bullies has brought them justice
2) The bullies would learn more from being punished more severely (if they wrote an essay on why bullying is wrong, they'd probably learn from that) and, hopefully, will cease their actions.
3) The bullies' parents will most likely punish the bullies at home as well and they'd be more aware of their child(ren)'s aggressive behaviour.

This will not only support my school, but other schools in Colorado that don't have strict punishment systems and, perhaps, around America as well. Thank you so much!
