Make Indigenous People's Day A Federal Holiday In New Jersey

Indigenous People's Day celebrates the strength of Indigenous Nations. The holiday helps educate People about issues that American "Indians" have faced since 1492 and some of those issues continue to this day. American "Indian" communities suffer from poverty, domestic violence, and low educational achievement. These issues impact their communities at a higher rate than of other ethnicities. Their ways of living forever changed after the US. Government forced American "Indians"from their homelands American "Indians"also tend to be underrepresented in what People see, hear, and read. People often form cultural views based on what they see on television, in movies, or in books. Without accurate representations of American "Indians", many People hold stereotypical views. Indigenous People's Day helps People hear accurate narratives about the lives of Indigenous People today.
