Drilling oil from the Arctic has not just impacted the polar bears but the whole food cycle. Think about it, if the fishes in the water die, then the seals couldn't find any food, which either the killer whales nor the polar bears could find any food etc.
Let's see what is the consequences of oil drilling does to the Arctic marine and land wildlife:
Oil spills can be devastating for wildlife. Oil can coat fur or feathers, destroying their insulation or water-repelling abilities and increasing the animal's risk of hypothermia.
And now let's see how spilling oil into the Arctic is major damage to the Arctic even if you tried to recover it:
1. In 1989, Exxon spilt 11 million gallons of oil into Alaska's Prince William Sound. But he did try help recover what mess he made by paying $2 billion. But it still only covered up less than 7% of the oil he had spilt.
2. In 2010, the BP Deepwater Horizon blowout spilt up to 200 million barrels into the Gulf of Mexico. Because of that, only about 8 per cent was recovered or burned off.
Can you see now?
This type of information has told us that the amount of oil you spilt into the ocean, even if you spilt a lot or very few, you still could not recover back what you have spilt. Just like what Exxon and the BP Deepwater Horizon tried to do.
And there's one more thing I need to add:
Our ideas have not just impacted the environment, but it did also impacted the animals who had lived and suffered among us.
These animals including the Beluga Whales, Arctic Foxes, Walruses, Polar Bears etc.,
Those animals have never been into such trouble ever, especially the polar bears. In the food cycle, the adult polar bears have no other natural predators only beside other polar bears. Only until humans decided to do something barbaric to them, which is to terrorized their one and the only habitat they could rely on.
So please even if the animals have no voice to speak up, we could be their only voices.
