Black Lives Matter in All Capacities and Detroit Area Youth Uniting Michigan (DAYUM) have partnered to create the Online Learning Bill of Rights to Transform Education. We demand equity, compassion, and justice throughout our education system. We have developed 5 expectations for schools as they transition to online learning
Students have the right to be comfortable while learning.
Students have a right to privacy.
Students have a right to a break from standardized assessment.
Students have a right to anti-racist and culturally sustaining curriculum.
Students have a right to certified, qualified teachers.
We, the students, and our adult allies will hold schools accountable to these standards. Our learning has been transformed, and it is time for schools to transform with us.
