There is no such thing as a responsible backyard breeder. Breeders over-saturate local markets with dogs, cats and other animals in heartless attempts to turn animal's lives into cash profits while local shelters overflow with good animals needing a loving, forever home. Nextdoor neighbor is an app neighborhoods use for security and getting to know your neighbors but they also have a section set aside specifically for buying, selling and trading items. Unfortunately backyard breeders are thriving on this app where you can pick from any number of animals for sale and no longer wanted pets whom are bred and turned over to anyone that asks without proper reference checks. This is causing pet populations to soar and shelters to fill up. For every animal that is sold for money another animal will be euthenized in a shelter. By signing this petition I am asking that Nextdoor Neighbor ban the selling of animals on it's app and develop meaningful animal welfare policies everywhere the app is used.
