Tell Denim Designers To Ban Sandblasted Jeans

Even though sandblasting was outlawed in Europe in 1966 many top designers still use it in their foreign factories to give denim a worn, faded look.
Inhaling silica from the sand used during this treatment process puts factory workers in developing countries at increased risk for a disabling lung disease called silicosis.

Some major brands, such as Levi'sH&M and C&A, have already abolished sandblasted jeans in their collections. The others should take their responsibility too!

Sign this petition to help protect workers from this frivolous health risk.

We the undersigned, ask that you stand up for the health and wellness of workers in your factories by immediately banning sandblasting and removing all sandblasted garments from your clothing lines.
Sandblasting, which gives jeans a 'worn' or used look, is known to kill sandblasting operators in garments producing countries, and thousands of lives are at risk.
There is nothing fashionable about wearing killer jeans, and we implore you to put human health and civil rights above your profit margin.
Some major brands, such as Levi'sH&M, Versace and C&A, have already abolished sandblasted jeans in their collections, isn't is time you joined them?
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter, and for taking action on this important issue.
