Sign this petition and help combat poverty, climate change and forest loss by sending a simple message to world leaders at this year's United Nations' COP 17 climate summit: 'more trees on farms please!'
Agroforestry (a technique for mixing trees with traditional crops, like maize, and livestock) is a well researched and simple technique that we know works. It can improve the lives of poor farmers worldwide, slow the conversion of natural forest into farmland, and even help us cope with many of the problems climate change is bringing.
The Trees on Farms campaign is backed by agricultural scientists worldwide.
Thank you all so much for supporting this important campaign.
Agroforestry is recognised as a sustainable technique for combating poverty, protecting natural forests and biodiversity, and coping with climate change.
We the undersigned, including agricultural scientists from all over the world, therefore urge world leaders to encourage the use of agroforestry and ensure that it remains high on their political agenda at meetings such as the 2011 COP 17 climate summit. Thank you.
