End Child Labour and Trafficking in Canada

Several countries have already ratified the Domestic Workers Convention treaty, offering basic legal protection to millions of workers, including setting a minimum working age.
This is a chance for Canada to take a significant step in stopping child labour and trafficking. Domestic child workers account for a third of all domestic workers - an estimated 10.5 million children worldwide.
Young workers are the most vulnerable to employer abuse. They include runaway children and minors who are forced into degrading and unsafe working environments. The majority of these child domestic workers are girls who are often exploited for sex.
We need to protect children from being exploited and abused. By ratifying the treaty, the Canadian government will be obligated to enforce a minimum working age, protect workers from employer violence, and make sure that domestic workers are not excluded from the same basic rights as other workers.
Tell Prime Minister Harper to help end child labour and trafficking in Canada by ratifying the Domestic Workers Convention treaty.
Dear Prime Minister Harper,
I am writing to express my support for the ratification of the Domestic Workers Convention treaty.
Each year, there are more than 600 new human trafficking cases in Canada. Many of these cases include domestic child workers who are forced into dangerous work. We need to stop child labour and protect young workers who are vulnerable to abuse at the hands of their employers.

Under this treaty, employers will have to observe a minimum working age and set clear employment agreements to prevent underage labour and exploitation. This is a vital step to help ensure that all children in Canada live out a safe and healthy life.
I am calling on you to ratify the treaty to protect children from being exploited and abused.
Sincerely,
