Urge Senator Wyden and Merkley to Increase Protections on Oregon BLM Forest Lands and Create Siskiyou Wild Rivers Monument
We, the undersigned, urge Senator Ron Wyden to suspend his legislation to increase logging on 2.6 million acres of public forests managed by Oregon Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Instead we urge Senator Wyden and Merkley to increase protections for BLM forests by proposing legislation to implement Option 1 of the FEMAT Report. Option 1 created by the leading Agency scientists would vastly improve survival for endangered species on western Oregon’s O & C lands. To diversify and strengthen the economies of Oregon we urge Oregon’s Senators to propose a 1.5 million acre Siskiyou Wild Rivers National Monument, a 750,000 acre Rogue-Umpqua National Recreation Area adjoining Crater Lake, and Coho Salmon Recovery Pilot Projects.
