We Want a Pro-Choice DNC Chair!
The Democratic National Committee meets on February 12 to elect its next chairperson. Although the Democratic party has fought for a woman's right to choose for over 30 years, some people have questioned the role of choice in the Party and whether to keep the right to choose as one of its core values. With another four years of an emboldened Bush administration, it's more important than ever that the Democratic Party stand united behind America's pro-choice majority.
Sign our petition to the DNC in support of a pro-choice chair. As a non-partisan organization, NARAL Pro-Choice America is not endorsing any specific candidate for chair, but we ARE asking you to stand up proudly with the Democratic Party to show that a majority of our country is pro-choice - and that our values of equality, freedom, and privacy ARE mainstream values.
To the Democratic National Committee:
As you consider who will assume leadership of the Democratic Party as the next DNC Chairperson, I am writing to urge the Democratic party remain true to its pro-choice values -- and America's pro-choice majority -- by electing a pro-choice chair.
The values of equality, freedom, and privacy are mainstream values, and to have both major political parties turn their back on choice would deny a fundamental value of American voters.
As a pro-choice American I am asking the Democratic Party to stand up for our pro-choice values during this time of transition -- it is truly the resolve that will allow it to remain in touch with mainstream America.
