Ruth Sharon Hoffman, disappeared from River Rouge, Michigan nearly TWENTY YEARS ago. She had gone to a job interview on June 29, 1986 and when she didn't return home her only daughter, Debbie began calling hospitals and the local police station and getting absolutely no help or information from either. On the morning of June 30, 1986, Sharon Hoffman arrived home in a taxicab dressed in hospital scrubs. Her job interview had turned into a nightmare and she had been brutally raped. She had been treated and released from the hospital.
Her daughter, Debbie, helped her take a bath and get dressed. She also tried to get her to call the police but her mother seemed terrified at the idea. She confided to Debbie that the man who had raped her was the owner of the establishment where she had applied for the job. A friend of his had also participated in the assault. It was well known fact that members of the River Rouge Police Department frequented this establishment.
Ruth Hoffman told her daughter, Debbie, that she needed to "get some air" and was going for a walk but NEVER RETURNED. Her daughter filed a Missing Persons Report in the summer of 1986 with the River Rouge Police Department and was met with complete indifference. She has spent her own money on private investigators and has tried for years to find her mother with no success.
We the undersigned are asking the State Attorney General on behalf of the State of Michigan to open a full investigation into the disappearance of Ruth Sharon Hoffman.
