Our elected commissioners here in Citrus County plan to vote in a 10-day-only hold-then-kill policy for our county animal shelter! They need to stay with the Strive for Life already enacted! If there is room no adoptable animal should loose its life!
The new bill would let the Citrus County Animal Shelter director decide whether or not to euthanize animals after just ten days. They will vote in May, and we need to make our voices heard before that happens.
According to My Fox Tampa Bay, shelter volunteers thought they were coming to a workshop about building a new shelter, but were instead told about the cruel bill to kill innocent dogs and cats for the crime of being homeless or simply just lost.
"I was sick. I was sick. We've come so far," Laci Hendershot told the TV station. "For them to even propose something like this is just... I don't know if I can even put it into words. It's heartbreaking."
The vote will come some time in May - sign my petition and tell the Citrus County commissioners to vote no and keep these innocent creatures alive!
(The pics are a representation of dead dogs at shelters. It's a fact thousands of animals die at shelters everyday.)
This petition was started after the Animal Shelter Workshop on Wed. April 22 2015
It has had an outpouring of support from around the County, State, Country and World. As our shelter adopts out to other Counties and States and some of our residents who adopt have homes in multiple States and Countries this represents the wide spread disdain for such a law in our County!
