The International Skating Union has demonstrated in their judging of the pairs competition at the Salt Lake City Olympics that they cannot adhere to the ethical standards of Olympic Charter and should be expelled from the Olympic Movement.
Attention: International Relations Office of the United States Olympic Committee.
We, the undersigned, request that you take whatever action is necessary to move that the International Skating Union be expelled from recognition by and membership in the International Olympic Committee. This is precipitated by the bizarre and obviously inappropriate and unethical judging of the pairs skating competition at the Salt Lake City Olympics. The International Olympic Committee states about such International Federations as the International Skating Union : "The International Federations (IFs) are international non-governmental organisations recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as administering one or more sports at world level. The national federations administering those sports are affiliated to them. While conserving their independence and autonomy in the administration of their sports, International Sports Federations seeking IOC recognition must ensure that their statutes, practice and activities conform with the Olympic Charter." The Olympic Charter provides: "Olympism is a philosophy of life, exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind. Blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles." Olympic Charter, Fundamental principles, paragraph 2 The judging in the pairs competition at the Olympics clearly demonstrates that the International Skating Union is unable to provide judging with "respect for universal fundamental ethical principles" and as such has violated the Olympic Charter and should have their recognition by the International OLympic Committee rescinded and the International Skating Union should be expelled from the Olympic movement. The United State Olympic Committee should initiate whatever process is required to achieve this result.
Sinerely
The undersigned
