Canadians ask yourself this, will this matter a year from now? LET'S BE THE VOICE FOR THESE INNOCENT CREATURES.

I'm confident and convinced that this will absolutely matter a year from now, a decade from now even an eternity from now.
Many of us have had the pleasure of caring for, adopting for, volunteering for, rescuing for, loving for and taking action for an animal whether it be domestic, wild, kept, captive, feral, amphibious, androgynous, feathered, horned, strayed or even extinct.
I am a proud optimistic Canadian, truly blessed to be a free open minded individual.
However with all the positive brilliance and natural beauty Canada has to offer it lacks positive change in moving forward with the 21st century and remains in the Victorian era that was introduced in 1892 and certain laws for example the federal legislation protects its citizens but it has a dismal record when it comes to protecting animals. In fact Canada offers virtually no protection for wildlife or stray animals. Animals should not require our permission to live on earth animals were given the right to be here long before we arrived.
Perhaps Canada has weak rules, weak enforcement and weak penalties.
The crisis here isn't laziness or indecisiveness the major problem is that toxic attitudes and behaviors do exist, we need to be able to name them for what they are and we can't do that if our "terms" have lost their power. We need strong beliefs for those times when something significantly damages or hurtful actions are happening, ultimately there needs to be severe consequence and punishment for those who cause unnecessary pain and unnecessary suffering, injury and or cause death to any living being.
Animal cruelty laws need to be updated by adopting effective animal welfare legislation that will actually improve the condition of animals in Canada. Like any crime you can't undo the damage inflicted on the victims and in this case there are many.
We are always so quick to react to a negative review, how about recognizing something positive. A good start would be witnessing these laws and changes come into effect. When humans act with cruelty we characterize them as "animals" yet the only animal that displays cruelty is humanity.
