America's National Parks Face a Crisis - Support the Plan to Fix Them

For the past 90 years, America's national parks have provided critical animal habitat, opportunities for outdoor education, and recreation for park visitors. Now the parks are in a state of crisis!

Underfunding, traffic congestion, and pollution are all taking their toll. Today, many of America's treasured national parks face problems like:

- A severe maintenance backlog. Parks need urgent repairs to visitor centers, roads, and trails.
- Ranger shortages threaten the visitor experience and safety at parks.
- An annual budget shortfall of more than $800 million.
- Air pollution that harms one in three park units in the National Park System.

NPCA has outlined how to address these problems in 5 Ways America Can Fix Our National Parks. By following this plan, our parks will be in great shape before the National Park System's 100th birthday in ten years. National parks are in desperate need of funding, protections, and attention. But with your help, we can fix them.

TELL CONGRESS TO SUPPORT THE PLAN THAT WILL FIX OUR NATIONAL PARK SYSTEM!
Dear [Congressmember],

I welcome the Centennial Challenge announcement that is calling for action to ensure our national parks are repaired before their 100th birthday in 2016.

Our parks require significant and much-needed investment over the next ten years to eliminate the maintenance backlog and increase the annual operating budget so that the National Park Service can do its job.

Thank you for looking into the problems facing our parks and please do all you can to make sure that fixing the parks is one of your priorities in the next congress.

Sincerely,
