Millions of people in the Horn of Africa are suffering from what the United Nations has declared a famine. Many from Somalia have fled the country in hope of finding food, water, and shelter in refugee camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. The trip is treacherous and the camps do not guarantee salvation due to a lack of funding and supplies. The UN has put out an international call for help. Here are some ways for you to aid in the efforts to help those suffering from this devastating famine:

The International Rescue Committee is providing water, food, and health care to communities in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. You can help by visiting www.rescue.org/drought-east-africa.
Oxfam is providing clean water and sanitation services to Dadaab, the largest refugee camp in Kenya, as well as other communities across East Africa. Donate at http://www.oxfamamerica.org/.
UNICEF is hoping to raise $31.8 million over the next three months to help provide treatment for women and children suffering from malnutrition, as well as helping to provide clean drinking water and vaccinations for polio and measles. To donate $10, text FOOD to 864233 or visit the UNICEF website.
International Medical Corps is providing food, water, hygiene, and sanitation services to those in need in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Donate $10 by texting AFRICA to 80888 or visit their website.
For those in central Somalia whose livestock, pastures, and farmland have been ruined by drought, the International Rescue Committee is offering physical and monetary assistance. The group is also helping to establish reception centers in Kenyan refugee camps and installing water-supply systems in Ethiopia. To help in these efforts, visit their website.
The United Nations World Food Programme is planning on airlifting nutritious foods such as high-energy biscuits to children and pregnant and nursing women. Donate $10 by texting AID to 27722, visit their website.
