Reports of 234 kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls have made headlines worldwide, and now a new twist has emerged -- the kidnapped girls are reportedly being sold into modern slavery for as little as $12.
But there is a solution.
Experts believe that if the Nigerian Government acts immediately and uses every resource at its disposal, it can locate the girls and return them to their families.
However for this to happen they need to know that the world is watching -- and waiting. Help save the 234 schoolgirls from Forced Child Marriage -- tell Nigerian President Jonathan to:
-
Act immediately on intelligence received from credible local sources;
- Work with neighbouring countries Cameroon and Chad as well as other nations offering assistance to mount an effective search for the girls; and
- Improve the protection of schools in north-eastern Nigeria so children can receive an education without risk of kidnapping, forced marriage or other abuses.
Each day the schoolgirls are held captive, the risk of them falling victim to Forced Child Marriage increases.
By sending a strong, united message to Nigeria's President today, we can help ensure his Government spares no effort until the girls are rescued and back with their families.

Dear President Goodluck Jonathan,
I stand in solidarity with the parents of the girls who were abducted from school in Chibok, Borno State. Each day the schoolgirls are held captive, the risk of them falling victim to Forced Child Marriage increases.

I therefore call on the Nigerian Government to take all possible actions to locate and rescue the 234 girls and prevent further attacks, including:
- Act promptly on intelligence received from credible local sources;
- Work with neighbouring countries Cameroon and Chad as well as other nations offering assistance to mount an effective search for the girls; and
- Improve the protection of schools in north-eastern Nigeria so children can receive an education without risk of kidnapping, forced marriage or other abuses.
Sincerely,
