Presidential Proclamation supporting the goals and ideals for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, October 15th. H.Con.Res.222
Each year, approximately one million pregnancies in the United States end in miscarriage, stillbirth, the death of a newborn infant and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, otherwise known as SIDS.
You may not have been aware of this startling statistic becasue many families grieve in silence; sometimes never coming to terms with their loss. We can help by giving all parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives, and friends a special day of remembrance.
The Governors of all 50 states have signed proclamations recognizing October 15th as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, and the legislatures of at least eight states have passed concurrent resolutions recognizing this day each year on a permanent basis. Congress and the President of the United States can bring even more awareness of this important issue by passing a resolution, H.Con.Res.222 and signing a Presidential Proclamation for its support for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, October 15th.
Congressman Tom Latham, 4th district, Iowa has introduced H.Con.Res.222, a resolution to support the goals and ideals of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrnace Day, and to call on the President of the United States to issue a Presidential Proclamation encouraging the observance of this day.
Please join us in signing this petition to encourage Congress and The President to recognize the lives of these chilren - regardless of how small or brief - and provide support for their parents and families.
