In an effort to quell impact on native fauna; rather than trap, neuter, and relocation, the Western Australia Department of Parks and Wildlife has been baiting food left for feral cats and foxes with Eradicat, a poison. ALCOA is sponsoring this program. Stray and feral cats are a result of human disregard for cats. And now these sentient beings are being poisoned for finding a means of survival.

I was horrified to learn of Western Australia's program of using Eradicat to control the feral cat population in its parks. Feral cats result from. the irresponsible actions of humans. Feral cats are the descendants of former pets that were abandoned and reverted to insttinct as a means for survival.
Through no fault of their own they are in this situation and are now persecuted and poisoned. Death from poison is excruciating and belongs in medieval tales. No sentient being deserves such an end.
There is a more effective and humane method to remove feral cats from parks. Ferals can be trapped, neutered and relocated to managed colonies. As cats are effective at rodent and pest control, they can be relocated to flower markets, record storage facilities, law enforcement facilities, and any other areas plagued by vermin. Fed by designated individuals they will perform their duty until passing from natural causes.
