The Slow Loris is indeed an adorable little animal that you may often see in videos doing some of the most adorable things. How can you do anything but react, saying “OMG, so cute!” What most people do not realize is why they are performing these behaviors considered cute. An example is the adorable tickling video which appears to show a darling little Slow Loris seemingly happy, throwing its arms up in the air when being tickled.
In order to try and domesticate these sweet beings, they go through some torturous training and the reality is that when the Slow Loris is tossing its arms up in the arm (with many thinking it is cute and pleasurable) actually means the animal is terrified. Suddenly, you may realize that this video that seems to be happy when being tickled is actually cruel for the animal.
People need to understand that things are not always what it seems. Yes, the Slow Loris is cute and adorable but what you see in those cutesy videos is really a scared, terrified little creature. As a result of their cuteness, many people are inspired to want to own them as pets. This is even crueler to their health and well-being. They by no means should be kept in captivity but in the wild as they are meant to be. We all need to spread the word, raising awareness to this sweet little animal and ensure that the Slow Loris no longer be considered as part of an entertainment ploy in these videos.
Our efforts through this petition is to ensure that our voices are heard against abusive videos of the Slow Loris while asking for a full ban on the illegal trade of this animal, saving it from cruelty and extinction. You can help us in our efforts by signing and sharing this petition. The Slow Loris needs to live in its natural habitat like all other wild animals!
