Dear Mr. Lassar,
I am writing to request that immediate action be taken in the "Baby Monkey" case. Despite it being illegal under US law to import unweaned mammals, a firm called LABS of Virginia imported from Indonesia several shipments which included baby monkeys 3-4 weeks old, starting in 1997. The shipments also included wild-caught monkeys shipped with documentation falsely claiming they were born in captivity.
Four years have now passed since the shipments began. I am very disturbed that, with less than a year remaining before the statute of limitations runs out, and despite an investigation by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, there have been no prosecutions. Please do all you can to make sure that the baby monkeys receive justice.
Thank you.
