Kikkoman soy sauce is a simple staple condiment brewed from traditional ingredients. Animal testing is not required by law, but the company is conducting a variety of cruel tests to make health claims about their famous product.
Kikkoman force-feeds rats soy milk and soy sauce through feeding tubes. They breed mice to be obese, then feed them citric acid. They also feed rabbits high-cholesterol diets in order to induce heart disease. Animals are killed after all these trials.
Soy sauce will continue to be a popular condiment regardless of these cruel trials, so there is no economic reason to continue them. If Kikkoman feels the need to perform tests to prove the health benefits of their soy sauce, they can do so in a humane manner using human tissue or consenting human volunteers.
Please sign the petition to urge Kikkoman to stop using animal experimentation!
We, the undersigned, are concerned that your company is conducting a variety of cruel animal tests to make health claims about your soy sauce.
We understand that you are force-feeding rats, mice and rabbits, then killing them in order to conduct these tests.
Soy sauce will continue to be a popular condiment regardless of these cruel trials, so there is no economic reason to continue them. If you feel the need to perform tests to prove the health benefits of their soy sauce, you can do so in a humane manner using human tissue or consenting human volunteers. These tests will be more effective than those that use other species.
We respectfully urge you to stop using animal experimentation, and to instead seek out humane and more effective methods of testing your health claims. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
