Stop Bush's Last Minute Attacks on the Environment
Even though President Bush has only a few months left in office, he is doing everything he can to help out his friends in Big Oil, Dirty Coal and other polluting industries on his way out of office. And, he is doing everything he can to make sure it will be difficult for the next Administration to undo the damage.
President Bush is trying to undermine environmental protections by:
* Selling sensitive public lands near some of our countries greatest national treasures such as Arches National Park in Utah in order to hand them over to Big Oil companies;
* Substantially weakening the endangered species act by removing critical scientific review of the impact of federal permits on endangered and threatened species;
* Allowing the EPA to ignore unsafe levels of rocket fuel in drinking water that pose a risk to nearly 40 million Americans; and,
* Permitting more uranium mining near the Grand Canyon.
Send messages to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne and EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson and tell them not to undermine environmental protections in the final weeks of the Bush Administration.
I am appalled that in his last days President Bush is trying to enact a number of regulations that would be harmful to the environment and difficult for the next Administration to undo.
On November 4, voters elected leaders at all levels of government who pledged their support for clean energy and to protect the environment.
